Our Work

Inspired by Prof Jayashankar’s writings and articles Telangana originated Sydneysiders organized a meeting in September 2006.

  • Telangana Movement in Australia started on September 17th, 2006 at Meadowbank. All members attended the meeting signed a petition and send it to Prime Minister of India for separate statehood. Telangana people started celebrating Bathukamma as a community.
  • 2006 to 2009 committee worked as TDF Australia and on Dec 9, 2009, organizing Adhoc-Committee changed its name to the Australian Telangana Forum (ATF).
  • Participated in online forums with politicians, Artists, Poets, Engineers, and Vidyavedikas. Several protests did in front of High Commissions offices
  • Worked with TDF USA from 2006-2009 to align on T. Activities and to use TDF USA website for posting of

Australian activities

  • 2006 – 2009: Every year Telangana people continued celebrating Bathukamma and paying homage to ‘Telangana Martyrs’ of Telangana on September 17th.
  • By-Elections: Members visited India during all the by-elections from 2006 to 2010 and campaigned in support of Telangana.
  • Increased members to contribute to the formation of Telangana state.
  • Formation of ADHOC Committee: ADHOC committee developed the constitution of the Australian Telangana Forum.
  • Sponsored booklets about Tank Bund Statues printed and distributed by TDF India.
  • Organized & Attended a dinner meeting with Oscar Fernandez MP & Gen Sec of AICC, and ATF submitted a memorandum representing 4 crore Telangana People.
  • Submitted several representations to BJP President and Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi to expedite for statehood of Telangana.
  • ATF joined TJAC with TDF-India when it formed in 2009 and supported and helped protests like the Sakkala Janula Samme, Million March, Telangana March
  • ATF members participated in historical Telangana March on September 30th.
  • Organized Dhoom Dham with Rasamayi Balakishan in Sydney
  • Organized Dhoom & Dham protests in front of Congress legislators in Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda with the help of Rasamayi Balakishan and his associates
  • In line with TDF/TJAC views, ATF protested anti-Telangana event even though we served with legal notice and police threats
  • Encouraged Melbourne / Brisbane Telangana friends to start Melbourne Telangana Forum & Brisbane Telangana forum
  • Conducting regular Ganesh festivals. Kids idol making and Laddu auction has been always an attraction.
  • Every year, We go for Vanabhojanalu.
  • We started to conduct Telangana State Formation day with the sponsorship of Telangana NRIs along with the regular events.
  • We conducted regular blood donation camps which saved several lives. Also, we conducted health and wealth seminars to make sure members of the community health and wealth is intact.
  • Actively work with local communities and participate in the Clean Up Australia event. And We conducted community cricket Telangana Premier League.
  • Post-Telangana statehood, ATF name changed as Australian Telangana State Association
  • Several Meet & Greets organized with politicians, Poets, Singers, and Govt Officials including Telangana first speaker Sri Madhusudana Chary and Council Chairman Swamy Goud and with first Telangana State Revenue Minister Sri Etala Rajendra and Congress MP Sri. P. Govardhan Reddy
